Lord, where can we go but to Thee?
\nWe have no one in heaven beside Thee,
\nand no one on earth with your grand ability
\nto touch our spirits,
\nlift our mood,
\nbless our kids,
\nstick us back together again when we fall apart
\nor saw a torn relationship into place.<\/p>\n
We come to ask for the consciousness
\nof your immediate and dynamic presence,
\nthat your messengers be greatly helped
\nand that you would have mercy upon us, O God.<\/p>\n
We wonder what you see that we cannot:
\nA crowd of cowards?
\nA sea of sin?
\nA morass of people picking and clawing at each other?
\nHurt husbands or rejected wives
\nwho find it difficult to look their neighbors in the face?
\nOr do you, perhaps, see those of us who are celebrating
\nthe \u201cI have need of nothing: individuals,
\nthe \u201ckeep your religion, I have mine\u201d group,
\nThe cynic or the scoffer,
\nor even little children capable of huge injustice
\non their own sweet level.<\/p>\n
See, Lord, we are here together;
\nhave mercy on us all.
\nFind us tonight, God, find us.
\nNudge us into your will and away from our wants;
\nreduce us to size,
\nshow us your mighty arm,
\ncarry away our sin.
\nO Lord, be yourself;<\/p>\n
Move us into action, a bold stand,
\na walking statement that will tell the world,
\nour world, that Jesus is our public choice.<\/p>\n
We ask for the awareness that something is going on,
\nwe request that you fasten our minds with the
\nnail of urgency to the wall of decision;
\nand we as it all, Jesus,
\nthat Calvary be worthwhile.<\/p>\n
